The Atlanta Hawks are on the clock. Plus, a Kansas City Chiefs love story that’s NOT Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
NBA Draft preview
The Atlanta Hawks are on the clock … well, not yet, but they will be later today. And for the first time in event history, the NBA draft will be held over the course of two days. The first round will take place today at 8 p.m. ET at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, while the second round will take place at 4 p.m. ET on Friday at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York. Here’s a look at the complete order of picks.
The Hawks have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The team’s GM Landry Fields confirmed they would not be trading away the No. 1 pick, and it’s expected that they will take French star Zaccharie Risacher. The 19-year-old forward is listed as 6-foot-9, and is following in the footsteps of 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick and fellow Frenchman Victor Wembanyama.
As the potential first-pick, Risacher could be signing a four-year, $57 million contract. Do the Hawks have a new face of the franchise?
There’s been a lot of buzz, for years now, about Bronny James. Would LeBron James’ career last long enough to grace the court alongside his son? Well, it has, and in fact, the Los Angeles Lakers have a pitch to keep the star for three more years. But, the bad news is that Bronny’s draft odds are dropping. The 19-year-old reportedly only worked out for the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, despite interest from the Dallas Mavericks. His agent says his limited workouts were by design.
The Lakers have the No. 17 overall draft pick, but some suggest the organization may trade down to get a second pick and potentially take Bronny James…will we see the father-son duo take the court in the 2024-25 season?
Here’s a look at other key players who could make or break teams after the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Florida Panthers did it, finally! They won the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history with a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Granted, they had to scare US hockey fans first by letting the Oilers come back from an 0-3 deficit to force a Game 7, but they pulled it off in the end. Key plays were made by their top scorers: Carter Verhaege and Sam Reinhart, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves to allow the Panthers to hoist the cup. The Miami Herald sports reporter Jordan McPherson explains how brotherhood and experience led the Panthers to their success.
The Kansas City Chiefs might just be the kings of manifesting. And I’m not talking about Travis Kelce literally manifesting his relationship with popstar Taylor Swift into existence, let alone his appearance on stage at her recent Eras tour stop. No, I’m talking about the Chiefs releasing a movie trailer earlier this year for a fictional Hallmark movie. It apparently struck a chord and now Hallmark is actually filming a movie, based on the Chiefs, in Kansas City. Here’s what we know about the synopsis.
