Atlético Madrid ready to ‘accelerate’ move for Girona star

Atlético Madrid are ready to step up their pursuit of a leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Girona.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Artem Dovbyk as the player in question.

Frontman Dovbyk has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across much of the summer to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the Ukrainian, fresh off clinching the Pichichi award for La Liga’s top scorer last season, had been identified as a priority signing on the part of the aforementioned Atlético.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, the Rojiblancos’ efforts to make his signing a reality will imminently move up a notch.

As per Matteo Moretto of Relevo:

‘Atlético has been on the trail of Artem Dovbyk for several weeks and now, and with the departure of Morata, the negotiation can accelerate.’

An agreement on the personal terms of a contract has already been reached between the parties, with it now up to the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano to find as much with their counterparts at Girona, too.
