Atalanta sign Godfrey in £10m deal from Everton

Serie A side Atalanta have signed defender Ben Godfrey from Everton for a fee in the region of £10m.

Godfrey reportedly saw a move to the Italian club fall through in January but has now joined last season's Europa League winners.

French club Lyon had made a £12.7m bid for the 26-year-old, who won two England caps in 2021.

Godfrey joined Everton from Norwich for £25m in 2020 and went on to make 93 appearances for the Toffees, including 16 last season.

He was entering the final 12 months of his contract at Goodison Park.

"Everyone at Everton thanks Ben for his service to the club and wishes him all the best for the future," said an Everton statement.
