Carlo Pellegatti has stressed his desire for AC Milan to go out and actually invest in a new striker, given the lack of spending in that particular position.

As Lorenzo and Stefano spoke about in the latest video on our channel, there has been a neglect regarding investment in the position of centre-forward which Milan are now paying for.

In fact, a report from SportMediaset highlighted that since 2020 the Rossoneri have spent a grand total of €16m in transfer fees on 11 different strikers. Almost all of that comes from Alvaro Morata’s €14m clause.

The game against Cagliari highlighted the issues. Morata did bag the only goal but he isn’t scoring frequently enough, while Tammy Abraham missed multiple big chances.

Pellegatti posted a video on his Instagram page in which he spoke about the problem at Milan of finding a reliable goal scorer, especially since Olivier Giroud left.

“I went to look at some astonishing numbers. Not so much those from the standings that you all know: Milan are 15 points behind Inter, 14 behind Atalanta and almost 20 behind Napoli, despite having to make up the match against Bologna,” he said.

“From November 9 to January 11, Milan played eight league games and won only two against Empoli and Verona. In the other games, one defeat against Atalanta and five draws. Why, on the other hand, do they win all five cup games against Sassuolo, Slovan Bratislava, Red Star, Juventus and Inter?

“In continuity, perhaps we lack a centre-forward. Looking at the cost of the forwards taken by Milan in recent seasons, you can see that almost all of them arrived at zero cost. Yet Milan are a club that has spent money in recent years as evidenced by the purchases of Chukwueze, Emerson Royal, Okafor, Pavlovic, Musah.

“But we never sign [spend money on] a striker. To conclude, I tell you that in the top 17 teams in the Champions League today, only two teams have a striker who cost less than 15 million euros: Brest and Milan. Incredible! Let’s buy a bomber!”
