Aston Villa reject Arsenal’s Ollie Watkins offer
Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa have rejected an offer from Arsenal for Ollie Watkins (29).
Arsenal offered a reported £60m to sign Watkins, which was subsequently met with a rejection from Villa. Why? They’re not happy with the timing of the proposal ahead of their Champions League game against Celtic on Wednesday night.
Watkins has scored 10 and created five in 23 Premier League appearances for Unai Emery’s side this season and with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus sidelined for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury, Mikel Arteta’s side are forced to enter the transfer market.
It would appear that Aston Villa are also reluctant to losing two strikers before Monday’s transfer deadline. Al-Nassr are working on a deal to sign Jhon Durán. The Saudi club had reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Victor Boniface, as reported by our colleagues at Get German Football News, but it would appear that Durán is their preferred option. Should Villa receive around £80 for the Colombian, then a departure is entirely possible.
