Aston Villa will play all 11 Women’s Super League fixtures at Villa Park for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Head of Women’s Football Lee Billiard has described the move as a “big step forward.”

The announcement is a huge increase from the five matches played on the club’s main stage last campaign. FA Cup and Continental Cup fixtures will still be hosted at the 11,300 capacity Bescot Stadium, which has been home to Villa Women since 2020. The Villans made the move to Walsall following their promotion from the Women’s Championship.

Billiard said: “This is another big step forward and represents a continuation of the progress of our women’s programme at Aston Villa. Through the support and hard work of many departments across the football club, we have been able to show Villa Park is a commercially viable venue for us.

“In the times we have played there, especially over the last couple of seasons, it has always created a special matchday experience for everyone involved. Players and staff collectively share an excitement to call Villa Park our primary ground from 2024/25 onwards. Our relationship with Walsall Football Club continues as Poundland Bescot Stadium will be our secondary venue.”

The side last played at Villa Park on the final day of the 2023/24 season. Villa hosted title challengers Manchester City, who earned a 2-1 win after goals from Mary Fowler and Lauren Hemp cancelled out a Rachel Daly equaliser.

The WSL is yet to announce its 2024/25 fixtures, leaving fans waiting to learn of Villa’s first opponents. They will be looking to build on last season’s seventh-placed finish, with new manager Robert de Pauw at the hilt.
