Aston Villa make exciting Jhon Duran prediction after West Ham and Chelsea transfer interest
Aston Villa are confident Jhon Duran is happy at the club after summer interest from West Ham and Chelsea.
The Hammers saw a bid of around £30m plus the services of young midfielder Lewis Orford rejected earlier this summer, while the Blues also considered a move for the Colombia international.
Villa, however, held firm and kept the 20-year-old at the club. Duran then scored in their opening day win over West Ham and added to this season’s tally against Leicester before the international break.
Duran was keen to leave the Midlands giants but sporting director Monchi believes the former Chicago Fire is happy at the club again.
He also revealed that manager Unai Emery is confident Duran can go on to become one of the best strikers in the world.
“There are no fewer than 40 clubs who want Duran,” he said.
“But Emery is very confident with Jhon. He thinks Duran he can become one of the best strikers in the world”.
“He wanted to leave, yes. Just because he wants to play, normal. But now it’s all good, he’s happy”.
Duran joined Villa from Chicago Fire in 2023 and has since scored 10 goals in 52 appearances.
