Aston Villa have appointed Dutchman Robert de Pauw as their new manager.

The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

De Pauw has signed a three-year deal with Aston Villa while the club hold the option to extend the arrangement by a further year.

De Pauw arrives at Aston Villa after most recently coaching German club Bayer Leverkusen. He has also previously coached back home in his native Netherlands. De Pauw was a Dutch title-winner with FC Twente while he has worked within The Netherlands’ youth system.

Aston Villa’s new boss is a highly-rated figure in the game and he will be hoping to help push the club on in the coming years.

After being appointed Aston Villa boss, De Pauw said “I’m very happy and very honoured that the club chose me as their Women’s coach.

“It’s a privilege to be here and I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“I saw the potential of the team with the young and older players, so the experience is there but also the talent.

“The ambition of the club is to be in the top six and everything is in order to make the team tick.”

De Pauw replaces former Aston Villa boss Carla Ward who stepped down from her position at the end of the season.
