Arsenal: Viktor Gyokeres opens door to summer move after winning title with Sporting
Viktor Gyokeres has refused to commit his future to Sporting amid interest from Arsenal and other top European clubs.
The striker has enjoyed a stunning debut season in Portugal and helped the club secure the league title over the weekend.
Gyokeres is the top scorer in the Portuguese top flight this season, notching 27 goals and adding a further 10 assists.
He has been scouted by Arsenal, who want to sign a forward this summer, and other big clubs from around Europe.
Sporting want to keep hold of the Swede and he has a €100million release clause (£85m) in his contract, but Gyokeres is being coy on his future.
“Stay next season? It's football, it's normal, I can't promise anything,” he is quoted as saying by A Bola.
“I really like being here, but in football everything happens very fast and we have to adapt.
“I can't make so many predictions, it's difficult, there are still games this season, then we'll see.”
Arsenal are looking to be active in the summer transfer window and, as well as a forward, they are interested in signing a defender and a midfielder.
The Gunners have enjoyed a brilliant season under Mikel Arteta and, with just two games to go, are still in the hunt to win the Premier League.
Arsenal last won the title all the way back in 2004, when they went the whole of the season unbeaten.
Manchester City are still in control of this year’s title race and, if they win their final three games, will be champions for the fourth time in a row.
