Arsenal‘s goalkeeper, David Raya, attributes his remarkable journey from the English fifth division to the top of European football to his belief in the Law of Attraction.

The Catalan shot-stopper, who recently made an impressive debut for Spain in their final group game of Euro 2024, credits positive thinking and hard work for his success.

“I am a great believer in the Law of Attraction,” Raya said in an interview after he helped Spain to a 1-0 win over Poland thanks to some superb saves. “I have been thinking for many years that I could be in the national team. I am a big believer that hard work pays off. With positive thinking, anything can happen.”

Raya’s unique playing style, characterised by his exceptional footwork and ability to initiate attacks from the back, has drawn praise from top managers like Jurgen Klopp. “He could wear the number 10 shirt,” Klopp remarked after a match against Brentford, where Raya’s distribution skills were on full display.

Raya’s journey began as a teenager when he was signed by Blackburn Rovers from Gramanet’s youth team. He spent time on loan at Southport in the English fifth division, where he honed his skills and developed his belief in the Law of Attraction. He eventually returned to Blackburn, then signed with Brentford in 2019, making his Premier League debut in 2021.

Raya’s impressive performances earned him a loan move to Arsenal last summer, with a €31 million purchase option that is likely to be triggered this summer. His displays in the Premier League’s best defence led to his call-up to the Spanish national team ahead of the tournament, where he has continued to impress with his composure and distribution skills.
