Arsenal target and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres can leave the Portuguese top-flight next summer for around €60 million despite having a release clause of €100m, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners are one of the Premier League clubs ‘specifically interested’ in recruiting the services of the Sweden international hitman, but they will have to wait until the end of 2024-25 to have a realistic chance of landing him.

Gyokeres was regularly linked with Arsenal last summer after he weighed in with 43 goals and 15 assists across all competitions for Sporting, and his impressive start to the new campaign has kept him on their radar.

The 26-year-old already has 18 goals and seven assists this season, and the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on him.

Arsenal have started the campaign well but draws against Brighton & Hove Albion, the aforementioned duo and a loss to Bournemouth have left them five points off the top spot, and they will be desperate to bolster their attacking ranks next summer.

Gyokeres fits the bill and manager Mikel Arteta could look to finally sign an out-and-out striker despite the decent form of they makeshift Kai Havertz.

However, pipping competition to the former Coventry City hitman could prove tricky as he will not be short of interest from the bigwigs if he maintains his current form.

The Gunners are desperate to go one better this season after finishing behind Man City in each of the last two seasons, and adding a number 9 to their ranks could go a long way in turning them into regular title winners going forward.
