Sturm Graz sports director Andreas Schicker has revealed that Arsenal are looking to sell Danish striker Mika Biereth this summer.

The 21-year-old forward had a successful loan spell with Sturm Graz in the second half of last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists to help the club win the Austrian Bundesliga title and OFB Cup.

Schicker confirmed to Kronen Zeitung, via bold.dk, “Mika is in the last year of his contract, and the club wants to sell him. Now, we have to see if we can find a solution with Arsenal.”

The director previously confirmed he was in talks with both Arsenal and the player over a potential return to Sturm Graz. Biereth is currently training with Arsenal‘s U21 squad, but his future at the Emirates Stadium looks uncertain.

However, Sturm Graz face competition for Biereth’s signature, with Sheffield Wednesday also reportedly interested in the young striker. The Star claims that the Championship club had previously tried to sign Biereth in January and are now considering renewing their interest.

Biereth’s impressive form during his loan spells last season, which also included a stint at Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, has attracted attention from several other clubs, too. He finished the season with a total of 15 goals and nine assists, making him a sought-after prospect in the transfer market.

While Sturm Graz can offer Biereth Champions League football, Sheffield Wednesday’s interest is complicated by the fact that the player’s Arsenal contract runs until 2025. The Championship side would prefer to take Biereth on loan, which would require him to extend his contract with Arsenal first to ensure Arsenal receive a transfer fee.

It remains to be seen where Biereth will end up, but Arsenal’s reported willingness to sell him suggests that his future lies away from North London.
