Arsenal readying January bid for Barcelona star

The race for the signature of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo is beginning to heat up.

This comes amid confirmation that another of the continent’s leading clubs have placed the Uruguayan high on their transfer wishlist for the January window.

The outfit in question? Arsenal.

The name of defender Araújo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several days now.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 25-year-old has been identified as something of a priority target on the part of Italian heavyweights Juventus.

The Bianconeri, amid a personnel crisis at the back, are keen to bring Araújo in on loan, in a deal featuring a mandatory purchase clause.

As alluded to above, though, Thiago Motta’s side are not the only ones interested…

As per a report from MD:

‘According to what Mundo Deportivo has been able to find out, one of the Premier League’s big clubs is now joining them: 
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.’

The Gunners, it is claimed, are prepared to pay up to land Araújo on a permanent basis this month.

Deco and the Barcelona board, in turn, will soon have a major decision to make on the future of one of the club’s prized assets…
