Arsenal have been handed a double fitness boost as both Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba could be fit for Saturday’s trip to Wolves.

Lewis-Skelly missed Wednesday’s win over Dinamo Zagreb with a knee issue, while Saliba has been absent for the last two games due to a hamstring injury.

Arsenal sent left-back Lewis-Skelly for a scan on Thursday and the results of that have confirmed he has not suffered a serious injury.

Saliba’s hamstring complaint is also understood to be minor and asked if he and Lewis-Skelly could play against Wolves on Saturday, Arteta said: “Yeah.

“With Myles, there is nothing serious on the scan. So, it will be a matter of today having a meeting with the medical staff. We have a training session. Whether it is too early or not [we don’t know].

“And with Willy, it is something similar as well. I think they will definitely be in for next week. This week, let’s see how it goes.”

Arsenal will be relieved that neither Lewis-Skelly nor Saliba have suffered serious injuries and should definitely return next week.

The Gunners face Girona on Wednesday in the Champions League, before hosting Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ben White will be pushing to be back by that game against City or if not, Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle on February 5 for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

White has been out of action since November after undergoing knee surgery, but he is progressing well with his recovery.

“Very good,” he said. “He hasn’t trained with the team yet, but I think he is very close to doing that. He needs to still tick a few boxes in the next two or three days. If that is all going well and smoothly, I think he will be with us pretty soon.”
