Arsenal favourites to sign Norwegin starlet before deadline
Arsenal are leading the race to sign one of Norway’s best emerging talents, according to VG.
The Gunners have not made any signings during the winter transfer window, but they are likely to be active before the deadline on February 3.
Strengthening the attack is the prime priority for the club, and the Gunners are reportedly ‘far ahead’ in the race to land Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan.
Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen have also been credited with an interest, but Manchester City don’t appear to be involved.
The 18-year-old was spotted in Erling Braut Haaland’s private box at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, but he is unlikely to join City.
Arsenal are in pole position to land Nypan from Rosenborg
Nypan made his debut for Rosenborg at just 15. He has earned plenty of experience at first-team level and is ready for a bigger challenge in one of Europe’s top leagues.
A move to Arsenal could see him play second fiddle to Martin Odegaard for the number 10 role. Ethan Nwaneri could become an understudy to Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
Nypan would be a brilliant signing due to his superb all-round attributes. He has registered an impressive tally of eight goals and 10 assists from 33 games for his club this season.
The teenager has also worked hard defensively with almost two tackles, four recoveries and five duels won per outing. He has completed 57 percent of his dribbles in the Eliteserien.
City have been linked with him over the past 48 hours, but Arsenal have the upper hand and could secure his signature before the transfer deadline.
