Arsenal confirm fresh knee injury for Tomiyasu ahead of US pre-season tour

Arsenal have confirmed a fresh injury blow ahead of the pre-season tour of the United States.

The Gunners have named their 26-man squad for the US friendlies and there was a noticeable surprise with Takehiro Tomiyasu missing from the list.

The club have now confirmed that the Japanese star is nursing a knee injury and will remain in London to receive treatment from the medical staff.

The £30 million-rated star has been hampered by multiple injury concerns during his Arsenal career. Hopefully, the setback will be short-term.

Kieran Tierney will also be recovering at the club’s training centre after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Scotland at the 2024 European Championship,

In their absence, Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko are the senior left-back options for the pre-season tour of the US

Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori could join them. The club has reached an agreement with the Serie A outfit, and he will undergo his medical next week.

The Gunners have also made a renewed approach to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Dan Bentley and are close to securing his services.

Arsenal face Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool in the US before facing Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon at the Emirates Stadium on their return.

They start their Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 17.
