James Holland reports for TEAMtalk that Arsenal fear Takehiro Tomiyasu is facing another spell out through injury, with sources confirming the club are concerned he’s suffered a setback.

Tomiyasu missed the first couple of months of the season with a knee injury, before returning to action against Southampton just before the international break.

The defender was then left out of international duty due to his limited minutes, not injury, but it seems the player suffered a recurrence of his knee problem against Southampton.

Holland reports that Tomiyasu could be out of action for another month, and he’ll be unavailable for Arsenal’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend at the least.

TEAMtalk don’t have the best track record for transfer news, but it’s rare for them to stick their necks out on an injury, and no sources have yet spoken out to deny the injury setback in the hours since the post went live.

At the very least, it’s a concern, and if the reports are confirmed then it will be a significant blow for Tomiyasu personally.

With Ben White and Jurrien Timber also suffering with minor injury problems lately, this was an unexpected opportunity for Tomiyasu to break back into Mikel Arteta’s team.

If he’s out injured for another month, he’ll likely return to find one of those two settled in his position.
