Arsenal 23yo suspended for Brighton clash with 4 others out & 1 doubt
Arsenal kicked off 2025 with a strong 3-1 win at Brentford, narrowing the gap to league leaders Liverpool, but now face Brighton without several key players.
Arsenal began 2025 in confident style at Brentford, overcoming an early Bryan Mbeumo strike to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool to six points. Gabriel Jesus equalised before second-half goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the win.
The game, however, came at a cost with Jurrien Timber picking up his fifth booking of the season in the 17th minute.
That means the 23-year-old will be suspended for Arsenal’s tricky trip to Brighton on Saturday in the early evening kick-off.
With the season now past its 19th game, the suspension threshold increases to 10 yellow cards, which would result in a two-match ban.
Gabriel Jesus narrowly avoided suspension after starting the Brentford match on four bookings.
Other Arsenal players with multiple bookings this season include Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka, each with three.
Arsenal will also be without Saka (hamstring), Raheem Sterling (knee), Ben White (knee), and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee). Kai Havertz could, however, return from the illness that ruled him out of the Brentford game.
