Arne Slot hints at huge decision for the Fulham game that will get Liverpool fans buzzing
Fresh after an unconvincing win against Girona, Liverpool return to Premier League action against Fulham, hoping to get back to winning ways.
Arne Slot’s side picked up yet another win in midweek, squeezing past Girona to maintain their perfect record in the Champions League and consolidate their spot at the top of the standings.
The Reds were far from their sparkling best in the 1-0 win, but they got the job done.
However, they’ll need to step things up heading into Saturday’s clash against a Fulham side brimming with confidence.
Predicted Liverpool XI vs Fulham
Liverpool were handed a massive double injury boost during the week, with Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa in contention to make the squad to host Fulham.
Jota has been missing in action since October with a rib issue, while Chiesa has been out since September with a mix of injury and illness.
The Dutchman hinted that Jota could play a part against Fulham, but Chiesa is more likely to make his long-awaited return to action in the League Cup quarter-final against Southampton.
Slot is expected to field a familiar line-up, but there could be a couple of tweaks, especially in attack.
Alisson’s superb performance on his return from injury is bad news for Caoimhin Kelleher, who is set to be relegated to the bench despite deputising admirably in the Brazilian’s absence.
The Brazilian goalkeeper will slot in behind a familiar back four featuring Andrew Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Curtis Jones has edged ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai in the pecking order, but with Alexis Mac Allister serving a suspension, both should start in midfield on either side of Ryan Gravenberch.
Darwin Nunez squandered an opportunity to prove himself to Slot in midweek so he could make way for the more reliable Cody Gakpo.
Predicted Liverpool XI:
(4-3-3): Allison; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones; Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo.
