Arne Slot Backs Liverpool’s Move for Newcastle, PSG Transfer Target
Last week, Olympique Lyonnais received a significant sanction from the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion), placing the club under substantial financial pressure. Furthermore, there’s one Premier League club that’s eager to secure the player.
Facing the looming threat of relegation to Ligue 2, Lyon must address their financial struggles to avoid this fate. This situation could force the club to offload key players, including Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana, potentially at reduced prices during the winter transfer window.
Cherki’s recent two-year contract extension, signed in September, offers Lyon some negotiating power. However, according to L’Équipe, a winter exit remains a genuine possibility.
Although Cherki dreams of joining Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring his situation closely.
Liverpool position itself to take the lead for Rayan Cherki
RMC Sport reports (h/t Le10Sport) that Liverpool has ramped up its pursuit of Cherki, impressed by his impact on his team’s recent success. The club’s top decision-makers, including Arne Slot, have already given his profile the green light. PSG is also monitoring the player but has yet to take any concrete steps.
Foot Mercato reports that the France Under-21 international is valued between €30 million and €35 million (£25 million to £29.2 million), with Liverpool currently monitoring Cherki.
However, Liverpool isn’t the only club interested, as PSG, Newcastle United, and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keeping tabs on the talented youngster.
