Argentina Starlet Could Make Inter Milan Debut Soon Amid Injury Crisis

Defender Tomas Palacios could take to the pitch for Inter Milan for the first time soon as an injury crisis grows at the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

The last week has seen Inter lose two important defensive players.

First, centre-back Francesco Acerbi suffered a thigh problem against Roma last Sunday. Then, it was Carlos Augusto who sustained a thigh strain of his own in a Champions League match against Young Boys.

Both Acerbi and Augusto are among the players who can back up Alessandro Bastoni on the left of the Inter back three.

And Bastoni is certainly a player who Simone Inzaghi does not want to run into the ground.

Therefore, the injuries to Acerbi and Augusto have left the Nerazzurri coach with a major selection headache.

The option that Inzaghi has turned to in the last couple matches has been Yann Bisseck.

Bisseck is capable of playing on either the right or the left of the defender.

The German has largely played on the right since joining Inter. But Inzaghi used him on the left in place of Bastoni, as a substitute against Roma and then from the start against Young Boys.

But according to Tuttosport, the Inter coach could go a different route soon.

Tomas Palacios To Get Inter Milan Debut Soon

21-year-old Argentine youth team international Palacios is a player who Inter signed for just this kind of scenario, at least on paper.

The Argentine is a left-footed player who is comfortable on the left of a back three.

Therefore, Palacios is a player Inter identified to bolster their depth in that area of the pitch.

And that is something the Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi may have to tap into soon.

Palacios has yet to make a single appearance for Inter. His age and inexperience have meant that the club have given him the chance to find his feet in training.

But with matches against Juventus, Empoli, and Venezia all on the way in the space of the week – and the likes of Acerbi and Augusto not necessarily returning right away – it may be time.

According to Tuttosport, there’s a good chance Palacios will come off the bench in one of the upcoming matches.
