Arda Güler receives the blessing of his football idol: ‘He will succeed at Real Madrid’

Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler has been sent a message of encouragement by way of an altogether special source, ahead of the new season being kicked into gear.

The individual in question? Alex de Souza.

For those not aware, Alex, now retired, is midfielder Güler’s footballing idol.

Whilst growing up as a young Fenerbahçe man, the 19-year-old was mesmerized by the talents of the Brazilian, whose exploits in Istanbul see him to this day regarded as nothing short of a legend.

Güler, in fact, filled his childhood bedroom with photos of Alex, with the image showcased below, of the Turk reading the attacking midfielder’s biography, having gone viral during his own time on Fener’s books.

Safe to say, then, that Güler, and those of a Real Madrid persuasion, will no doubt be keen to hear of Alex providing his take on the gifted starlet’s prospects in Spain’s capital over the years to come.

Speaking after being unveiled as the new head coach at Antalyaspor, the 46-year-old was drawn on the talents of his biggest fan.

And Alex, in quotes gathered by Diario AS, went on to respond:

“I am sure that he will succeed at Real Madrid.

“Arda Güler is a very young talent, he is only at the beginning of his career. He has a very long way ahead of him. He is currently improving day by day. I am sure that he will continue to build on his successes at Real Madrid. He is also a very important player for the Turkish national team. All the Turkish people know this. They are aware of his importance. He will also be beneficial to the Turkish national team for many years to come.”

Alex concluded:

“In fact, I am in constant contact with him. We meet regularly when necessary. I send him my best wishes and advice.”
