Architect Beau Welling completes course renovation at South Florida private club
Architect Beau Welling has wrapped up an extensive renovation to the Village Course at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club in Jupiter Florida.
Originally opened in 1978, the Village Course has been given new greens, tees and bunkers, and among other work several holes were redesigned by Welling and his associates.
"It has been an honor to work with Jonathan's Landing to refresh the Village Course's infrastructure and to enhance the playing experience for the membership," Welling said in a media release announcing completion of the project at the private club. "Jonathan's Landing is a very special club with a really wonderful group of members, so we felt a deep sense of responsibility to do a great job. We engaged the membership to develop goals and objectives for the project and then worked really hard to meet those goals of making the golf course more playable and strategic and adding variety for all players, regardless of skill level. We are super happy with the end result and look forward to having the members enjoy the new Village Course for many years to come."
The scale of the renovation by Beau Welling Design included:
New greens, tees and bunkers for all 18 holes
Reshaping of the landscape including new contouring throughout the course
Rerouting of Nos. 3-7
Strategic tree clearing and relocation for expanded sightlines
New drainage and irrigation
Bimini Bermudagrass tees and fairways
New concrete cart paths
Renovated practice range and short game area
"This is more than a renovation – it's a reinvention," Brad Nelson, Jonathan's Landing director of agronomy, said in the media release. "We've elevated the Village Course to a level that reflects the excellence of Jonathan's Landing while honoring its legacy."
