If there’s one aspect of summer we all long for, it’s a dip in a pool on a hot day. Unfortunately, if you don’t own a pool, you can’t really take advantage of one right now with most public pools closed because of the pandemic. But there’s still hope: A pool sharing marketplace exists that can help you safely rent a pool this summer.
Swimply is a website that’s essentially the pool version of Airbnb. It allows swimmers to match up with people who want to rent out their pools. Those looking for pool time can enter their preferred location, and the website will show what pools are available nearby. Swimmers can also enter what date they want to swim and the time frame. Pool guests rent by the hour, and depending on the pool, location, and other amenities, the price can range from $30 to $150 per hour.
Guests and hosts can easily chat through Swimply’s secure platform to work out details and go over any questions. Once you book a pool, you’ll get everything you need including the address, entry and exit info, and even the Wi-Fi password.
Is it safe to use someone else’s pool right now, though? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that “proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.” Swimply pools must be in compliance with the CDC’s pool safety measures, according to CNN Travel.
