Tottenham head to Cyprus to face APOEL knowing a win is a must ahead of a Champions League double-header against Real Madrid.

An opening-round victory over Borussia Dortmund would prove crucial come December, but will count for nothing if Spurs' superiority isn't hammered home on Tuesday.

With Dortmund facing the holders at the same time, Spurs could sit six points clear in second place with victory in Cyprus and a Real win in Germany putting them in the best possible place for Los Blancos.

Team news

Mousa Dembele's ankle injury is a big concern for Spurs, ruling him out of Saturday's win over West Ham and potentially the trip to Cyprus.

Moussa Sissoko has been deputising in recent weeks, to mixed results, while Harry Winks could come in alongside Eric Dier.

In defence, Jan Vertonghen is suspended following his two yellow cards against Dortmund, so Juan Foyth is the obvious choice to step up following his debut against Barnsley.

Dele Alli is serving his second of a three-game European ban so Heung-min Son will likely replace him in the XI, as he did to much effect at Wembley.

Predicted line-ups

APOEL starting XI: Waterman; Vouros, Rueda, Carlao, Lago; Sallai, Vinicius, Morais, Aloneftis; De Camargo, Ebecilio

Tottenham starting XI: Lloris; Foyth, Sanchez, Alderweireld; Aurier, Winks, Dier, Davies; Eriksen, Son; Kane

Head to head

APOEL and Tottenham have never faced each other.
