After another defeat for Union St Gilloise in the league, head coach Sebastien Pocognoli is coming under pressure. However, he appears to still have the confidence of his players. Veteran goalkeeper Anthony Moris was quick to defend the head coach after the game, stating that ‘If there is a coach who think she can do better than Pocognoli, he can send us his CV’.

However, while Moris may still have trust in the former Brighton and West Brom defender, some fans do not. One name that they could quite confidently say would do a better job is former head coach Karel Geraerts. The clubs former head coach left Union after just missing out on the title in 2022/2023, being replaced by Alexander Blessin. His replacement went on to win the domestic cup but also missed out on the title after going close. Blessin left at the end of the season to join St Pauli.

Geraerts was also in Germany recently, having been head coach of Schalke 04. However, he is now available having been sacked by the Bundesliga 2 side. Many of the Union faithful would be quite happy to see Geraerts return to Brussels.
