Yahoo Sports Anthony Edwards fined $40,000 by NBA for 'using offensive or derogatory language on social media'
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was fined $40,000 by the NBA after "using offensive or derogatory language on social media," the league announced Tuesday.
Edwards came under fire Sept. 11, when he posted a video on Instagram in which he used a homophobic slur. Edwards quickly deleted the video. He later apologized for using "unacceptable" language. Edwards said it was "immature, hurtful and disrespectful" to use that word.

The NBA's statement referenced Edwards' apology, saying he "has acknowledged that his actions were inappropriate."
The Timberwolves selected Edwards with the first pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He averaged 21.3 points and 4.8 rebounds last season.
