A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has surpassed his goalscoring tally for the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign.

The player in question? Jules Koundé.

Stopper Koundé for his part of course took his place front and centre in the action on Saturday night.

Afforded a starting berth in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Getafe, the France international went on to both open the scoring, and prove himself the main protagonist in a late Blaugrana penalty shout.

When all was said and done in Madrid, Hansi Flick’s troops were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

But, as alluded to above, his exploits over the course of the 90 minutes nevertheless proved to be significant for Koundé from an individual perspective.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of statisticians StatMuse that the former Sevilla man has now scored more goals this season (3) than he managed in the whole of last season (2).

Koundé joins the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in surpassing their respective tallies in front of goal for the 2023/24 term.
