Annual Montreal Canadiens Blood Drive

The Montreal Canadiens are an institution in Montreal and they've always been very involved in the community. Be it with the annual hospital visits with sick kids around Christmas, with the Bleu, Blanc, Bouge ice rink building program or with the Montreal Canadiens' Children Foundation, the Tricolore takes part in numerous initiatives every year.

For the 43rd time, the Canadiens will be holding their annual blood drive on October 16, 2024. All day long, players, alumni, executives and coaches amongst others will be on hand to thank the fans who will take the time to donate blood. Since its inception in 1981 at the initiative of Habs legend Jean Beliveau and sports commentator Claude Mouton, the blood drive has gathered 38,147 donations.

Once again, the blood donation clinic will be presented in collaboration with RDS and aim to collect a large amount of blood units. Everyday, Héma-Québec needs to collect at least a thousand donations in order to meet the needs of all hospitals across the province.

Fans wishing to roll-up their sleeve and make a donation are advised to make an appointment to do so either by visiting jedonne.hema-quebec.qc.ca or by calling 1-800-343-7264. Walk-ins will be taken on the day as well, but having an appointment will help streamline to process.

Donors will be welcomed through the Bell Centre's main entrance on the Avenue-des-Canadiens-de-Montreal and just like for games, backpack, sports or laptop bags or large bags will not be allowed in the building. As always, there will be a mandatory search before gaining admittance in the Bell Centre.

Players and members of the organization will be walking the floor as people are making their donation and will be signing players cards provided to them by the organization. Donors who have already made their donation can move to the waiting area if they want to wait to get other items autographed, but the main purpose of the day is to collect blood units.
