A truly bizarre scene played out during Friday’s Dodgers-Giants game in San Francisco as a pair of fans carrying flowers ran on the field. It appeared the fans wanted to give the flowers to several Giants players, most notably Angel Pagan and Buster Posey. However, neither was having it and instead helped security by bringing the fans down.

The scene played out with Los Angeles batting in the fourth inning. The two fans got by security and hit the field, coming close to several players. One got too close to Pagan, who immediately grabbed him and slammed him to the ground with a WWE style suplex.

After showing his perfect tackling form, Pagan then held the fan down until security could remove him and send him off to jail with his pal.

Another fan video shows the fan tackled by Pagan throwing a flower in the direction of Brandon Belt. That same video shows the other fan approaching Buser Posey before being shoved down.

It was a pretty startling scene. Obviously, it could have been worse, but it seems these fans were more interested in making friends than causing harm. Unfortunately for them, when you trespass on a baseball field, you’re not likely to find much friendship. The fan is actually pretty fortunate he was tackled by one annoyed player, rather than a group of annoyed security guards.

Fortunately for the Giants, they were able to quickly put it behind them and focus on an important game. They would go on to win the game 9-3 thanks to a seven-run sixth inning, which allowed them to maintain a one-game lead over St. Louis for the second wild-card spot.

As for the rest of us, we had Vin Scully on the microphone to provide the play-by-play of the action, including Pagan’s slam.

Scully’s levity here is just another reason we’ll miss him after Sunday.
