Andrew Craig vs. Cezar Mutante Added to UFC Fight Night 44 in San Antonio

A middleweight match-up between The Ultimate Fighter Brazil middleweight tournament winning Cezar Mutante and Andrew Craig has been added to the UFC Fight Night 44 fight card in San Antonio. UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.

Craig (9-2) is a former Legacy FC middleweight champion. He made his UFC debut in March 2012 with an undefeated 6-0 record. He was impressive in his first two fights, defeating Kyle Noke by unanimous decision and then knocking out Rafael Natal. He was defeated for the first time January 2013, losing a unanimous decision to Ronny Markes. The Texas native rebounded from the loss by defeating Chris Leben at UFC 162. He lost for the second time in his career in his last outing to Luke Barnatt. He was submitted by rear naked choke in the second round, but earned Fight of the Night honors for the UFC Fight Night 30 performance.

Mutante (7-3) made his way to the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter reality show. He won The Ultimate Fighter Brazil middleweight tournament by defeating Sergio Moraes by unanimous decision at UFC 147. The 29-year-old won his next two fights. He defeated Thiago Santos by guillotine choke at UFC 163 and won a split decision over Daniel Sarafian at UFC Fight Night 32. Like Craig, Mutante is also coming off a loss in his last outing. He was knocked out by C.B. Dollaway on March 23.

Both fighters hope to get back on the winning track on June 28.

UFC Fight Night 44: Swanson vs. Stephens takes place at the AT & T Center in San Antonio on June 28. The event is headlined by a featherweight match-up between top ten-ranked fighters Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens.
