Things are slowly starting to trend in the right direction for the Original Six club, but it is clear that they should still look to upgrade their roster before the trade deadline passes.
Because of this, during a recent episode of The Talking Point on TSN, NHL analyst Craig Button argued that the Bruins should make a push for San Jose Sharks star forward Mikael Granlund.
Here is what Button said about Granlund being a possible fit for the Bruins:
"The Boston Bruins simply don't have enough skill. Mikael Granlund in San Jose. Having a fantastic season. He would upgrade their skill in a significant manner. They have a tough time scoring. They don't have a center. He can play both center and wing, but they need more skill. Mikael Granlund offers exactly that."
It is hard to disagree with Button's opinion on Granlund being a player the Bruins could use right now. The 32-year-old forward is having a spectacular season, posting 10 goals and 29 points in 27 games thus far. This is after he had 12 goals and 60 points in 69 contests last season.
We here at The Hockey News Bruins also argued that Granlund could be an interesting target for Boston last month for similar reasons. It is no secret that the Bruins are in need of another top-six forward, and Granlund would provide them with that. In addition, due to his playmaking ability, he would also give the Bruins' struggling power play a nice boost.
