Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update: Will the Lions' WR play on Thanksgiving?
As the Lions prepare for another Thanksgiving matinee, there's a chance they could be without one prominent player at the table.
Amon-Ra St. Brown appeared on the team's injury report ahead of their game against the Chicago Bears, bringing his status into question for Thursday. Detroit has been rolling all season long, winning 10 of their first 11 games. The one thing that could derail a magical season, however, is injuries.
The list has been growing for Detroit in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen just how much of it is precautionary as we head down the stretch of the regular season. Regardless, St. Brown's practice availability will be a huge topic heading into Turkey Day. Here's the latest on the Lions' star receiver.
Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update
St. Brown was a surprise addition to the Lions' injury report ahead of their Thanksgiving showdown. He was listed as a DNP in Monday's practice estimation with a knee injury.
"Saint's a little banged up," head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Monday. "We'll see how he recovers."
Concern for the receiver's status remains relatively low, especially given his history. The receiver has only missed two games in his now four-year career. The 25-year-old is notoriously tough, so there's a good chance his absence on Monday was more rest-related than anything else.
An upgrade in practice participation would bode well for St. Brown's chances of playing on Thursday. Anyone looking to start the receiver in fantasy shouldn't panic, considering the Lions are playing the first game of the week, allowing plenty of opportunities to pivot.
When was Amon-Ra St. Brown's injury?
It's unclear when St. Brown suffered the injury, considering he finished Sunday's game against the Colts. However, the receiver was handling punt returns after Khalif Raymond exited with an injury of his own. After his first punt return, he came up noticeably limping. In his weekly radio appearance with 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, Campbell said he expects someone else to be returning punts on Thursday.

Amon-Ra St. Brown stats
St. Brown's stat sheet shows that he isn't having the same impact for the Lions in 2024, with just 71 catches for 747 yards and nine touchdowns through 11 games. The receiver is coming off a career year in 2023 but plays in a more well-rounded Detroit offense this year. The Lions have a lot of mouths to feed, so there is less reliance on one player. The team has also spent plenty of time in the lead and has run the ball effectively, so St. Brown's statistical drop shouldn't be a concern.
