Ambrosini worried about Milan after ‘struggling the most’ in Scudetto race
Sacking Stefano Pioli was meant to be the start of a new project at AC Milan, but if anything, the Rossoneri have gone backwards and hopes for the season are on the floor.
There are several reasons for Milan’s shortcomings so far this season, and unfortunately, there is no sign of them stopping. Hopes of a top-eight finish in the Champions League hold more credibility than hopes of a title race, and maybe even hopes of a Champions League spot through the league next season.
The Rossoneri have been poor against teams around them, and below them, and this has left Paulo Fonseca in a difficult position in the eyes of the fans, but the management are still holding faith in their appointment.
Speaking to DAZN today, Massimo Ambrosini looked at the situation that the Diavolo find themselves in, or better yet, don’t find themselves in, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.
“Among the teams that were supposed to have a championship of a certain type, Milan is the one that is struggling the most in proportion to the quality of the squad. For me it is a strong team, Milan has strong players, players who have expressed less in proportion to the value they have. For example, Juventus has no strikers, Milan has Abraham and Morata.
“Loftus-Cheek, who did well in Bergamo, is an alternative to the starters and is doing little. He has four valuable central defenders. About Theo and Leao we can talk as much as you like. From the point of view of the strength of the squad and what it has shown on the pitch, it is a team that has done little so far, less than it could have done.”
