Yahoo Sports Amazon's 'All or Nothing' will give viewers behind the scenes look at Panthers
The Oakland Raiders’ 2019 training camp drama will be captured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” but if you don’t want to wait until August 6 for some behind-the-scenes NFL action, we have good news for you.
‘All or Nothing’
On Wednesday, Amazon Prime and the NFL announced the return of “All or Nothing,” which will feature the Carolina Panthers.
The eight-episode look back at the 2018 season will debut July 19 on Amazon Prime.
Carolina’s season was going well until it wasn’t: the Panthers were 6-2 after a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 4, but then lost seven straight, in large part because of a shoulder injury to quarterback Cam Newton.
Newton’s shoulder needed a surgical clean-out, not a repair, but the painful, nagging issue meant that at one point he couldn’t throw 30 yards. As Newton struggled, so did the Panthers, who also were without tight end Greg Olsen for seven games.
Last year was also the first of David Tepper’s ownership and the team signed safety Eric Reid, adding other layers of interest.
‘An opportunity to see both sides of the story’
Ron Rivera, who is beginning his ninth season as the Panthers’ head coach, told the team website that viewers will get a “little dip” inside the organization.
“It will give an inside look at some good things and some bad things and how we had to deal with them as players and coaches,” he said. “It’s going to be real interesting to see. When you see how it all plays out, you’ll get a sense of what it’s like to be inside a team.”
There was obviously highs and lows, and viewers will see them.
“It’s an opportunity to see both sides of the story as to what happened and how we tried to work with it – and what worked and what didn’t work,” Rivera said. “The unfortunate part is you’ll get to see the negative aspect of what happens when things don’t go well and the struggles that we went through. What happened to this team, you can really feel it.”
Cornerback Donte Jackson is interested to see the final product, particularly inside meeting rooms.
“That’s really where all the magic happens,” he said. “It’s kind of like the stock floor on Wall Street – that’s where we do all of our business. That’s where we start at before we come out on the field. I think that’s pretty interesting.”
