Whether you’re looking for a new pan because the last few months have seen you getting a little more creative in the kitchen, or because you’re heading to university, there is one bit of kitchen kit on our radar that we think you should know about: Jean-Patrique’s The Whatever Pan.
This design has been hugely popular with customers, as well as chefs worldwide, as it sold out on five separate occasions in 2019, and again during coronavirus lockdown, a spokesperson for the brand has confirmed.
However, it is now back in stock - much to our relief.
Why we rate it
The bestselling griddle pan is made from high quality aluminium, which means it is lightweight and free from nickel and lead.
Plus it has a non-toxic, non-stick finish, which means we can use less oil when cooking without the risk of leaving half of our meal on the base of the pan.
The pan features deep ridges on the base for those satisfying lines when cooking on the grill, and also boasts extra deep sides, which measure 4.5cm.
The Whatever Pan can be used on any hob, including gas, induction, ceramic, electric and even a camp fire, as well as in the oven – although cooks must be careful as the handles will get hot.
It also comes with a heatproof glass lid, so you can keep a check on your feast while it simmers.
The pan can be used to sear or grill meat, fish and vegetables, but also to roast, fry, stew and bake tasty treats.
What the reviews say
Jean-Patrique The Whatever Pan has racked up more than 1,500 reviews on Amazon and has been recognised as one of the online retailer’s bestselling products.
Here’s what the reviews say:
“Pan is great to use and cooks food very well. I love being able to keep the lid on to keep heat in.”
“An excellent pan, heats quickly and cooks food evenly. The handles do get hot, but care should be taken with any pan with handles, would highly recommend, its a lovely pan.”
“Excellent item that I should have bought years ago. Cooks meat to a treat and so easy to transfer from the hob to the oven.”
“I bought this to replace a cheaper flimsy griddle and the difference in quality is unreal, due to it being cast as opposed to pressed like my other one. It’s a lot more sturdy and doesn’t change shape through the heat, the lid’s great especially for sausages and the like, it stops fat spitting everywhere.”
“So pleased with this purchase. The pan is top quality and I like the handles - they are neat, which means no big handle to get in the way. Its continental style appeals to me. It’s great.”
