Amazon‘s extensive list of in-house products has garnered a cult following over the years. One of the retailer’s top-rated and highly reviewed smart home gadgets is the Echo Show. The latest fifth-generation release, for example, has over 140,000 ratings.
The Echo Show 5, and many devices like it, can retail for upwards of $90, with competitive products like the Facebook Portal Mini retailing for $80 on sale. Needless to say, this can be financially out of reach for many.
Luckily, the Amazon Show Echo 5 recently took a price cut, thanks to a deal offered exclusively to Amazon Prime members. For a limited time, Prime members can purchase the all-star video-calling device for 50 percent off.

Featuring a compact 5.5-inch display with Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa already built-in, the Amazon Echo Show 5 is one of the most popular and widely purchased smart gadgets on the market. The sleekly-designed device allows users to “voice or video call friends and family with compatible Echo devices, Alexa app or Skype.”
Aside from its video calling and chatting capabilities, this device can also serve as a streaming hub, allowing users to watch movies, news and TV shows right from its screen. It also doubles as an output for other streaming methods, including music, radio and audiobooks.
Another customer-favorite feature is the Echo’s ability to turn any living space into a “smart home”, thanks to its Ring compatibility. The device can connect to compatible smart home devices, like Ring doorbells and light bulbs, allowing users to see whose at their front doors or turn the lights on from anywhere in their homes.
For added privacy, the Echo Show 5 has a built-in switch to easily allow users to cover the camera hole. Among a laundry list of additional features, the gadget boasts an ambient sunrise feature, alarm and timer integrations and an easy three-step setup.
To set up the device, simply plug the Echo Show 5 into a wall outlet, connect to the internet and ask Alexa whatever you’d like.
With over 30,000 five-star ratings, the Echo Show 5 is one of the most highly-reviewed releases from Amazon’s device lineup. One reviewer outlined that the easy-to-use touchscreen makes it “a real winner” in their eyes.
“Everything is well done, for the price, and, again, gets easier to use each iteration,” the shopper wrote. “For me, the price is great. Everything works. Highly recommended.”
However, one feature that may be a setback is the Amazon Echo Show 5 can only video call other Echo products or devices that have Alexa or Skype. While this could be a deal-breaker for some, few reviewers have voiced any issue with this.
This deal currently does not appear to have a specific ending date, so shop while supplies last!
