Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has insisted that he would be happy to remain at the club all his life.

The Ivorian spoke to reporters on Tuesday evening ahead of Manchester United’s clash vs. Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California.

Amad has so far started two of United’s three pre-season clashes. He found the back of the net against Rangers and followed up his sensational performance against the Scottish giants with another brilliant display vs. Premier League rivals Arsenal.

For the presser, Amad was unusually on his own and was not accompanied by Erik ten Hag.

It has been suggested that Amad is in line to be handed a new United deal to tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future.

When asked whether he intends to stay beyond the expiry of his current deal which expires in the summer of 2025, the forward replied (via The Manchester Evening News), “Yeah, why not? I’m very happy here. I think everyone is happy with me because I smile with everyone, good energy. Why not stay here all my life?”

Amad opened up on the injury he sustained during pre-season last year, which ruled him out of action for five months. For large parts of the campaign after he returned to action, Amad had to be content with a place on the bench but in the latter stages of the campaign, he saw his importance and status in the team improve.

“It was not easy for me to get an injury in pre-season last season. I was out a long time but the most important thing was to come back stronger, to help the team and in the end I was happy with my contribution. I forgot the past and now I’m thinking about the present.”

“I am so motivated to start the season, I’m so excited, I believe in the manager. Last season, I know didn’t play a lot but this season is going to be a good season for everyone and I’m so motivated to start the season.”

The 22-year-old added, “I think everyone wants to play, that’s why in the training you need to put everything in to fight and start in the XI.”

“Everyone wants to play. We have a good team, good players – Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Rashford – so the final [decision] is the manager who can decide who is on the pitch and who is on the bench.”

“But when you don’t play you need to be ready, you can see the game when you are on the bench. Everyone is important in the team.”

Amad will almost certainly start for United against Betis in the early hours of Thursday morning.
