Amad Diallo managed to accomplish something today that Antony couldn’t do in 55 Premier League matches
Manchester United’s showing at St. Mary’s this afternoon will have undoubtedly given Erik ten Hag a selection headache for their forthcoming fixtures.
The manager opted for a front three comprised of Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford on either flank, with Joshua Zirkzee leading the line.
Rashford proceeded to net his first goal since March with a sublime finish in the first half and oversaw one of his most promising performances in a long, long time, looking as confident as ever each time he received the ball or squared up a shot.
While Amad didn’t get onto the scoresheet today, he put in yet another outstanding shift. In fact, he managed to create more chances today (six) than his senior counterpart Antony ever has in a single Premier League game, having played 55.
He also recorded an assist, nine touches in Southampton’s box, four ball recoveries, 89 per cent passing accuracy and won three tackles, per StatmanDave.

The 22-year-old has done his utmost to ensure he has his place cemented on the right wing, but Alejandro Garnacho will certainly do everything to displace his Ivorian teammate.
Garnacho will vie with Amad and Rashford for starting spot
Garnacho came off the bench in the 73rd minute for Rashford, adding a second goal to his tally for the season when finding the back of the net in the sixth minute of injury time to seal the 3-0 victory.
Ten Hag will be keeping his fingers crossed that such form from his attackers continues as fixtures start to come thick and fast in all competitions.
