Manchester United are set to face bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this afternoon with a kick-off time at 16:00 (UK time) with Amad Diallo looking to haunt Arne Slot’s side.

The Red Devil remained unbeaten against Liverpool facing their rivals thrice in the last campaign.

Erik ten Hag’s side was able to prevent Liverpool from scoring at Anfield in a goalless draw with the the reverse fixture a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford featuring a stunning goal for United star talent Kobbie Mainoo.

On their journey to lifting the FA Cup last season, United were drawn against their rivals at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals.

The fixture turned out to be one of the most memorable derby days with a dramatic 4-3 fixture finishing with Amad Diallo scoring an injury-time winner in extra-time.

It was a thrilling encounter and highlighted that form goes out the window when these two teams come up against each other.

The former Ajax boss will be hoping his side step up after a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Brighton at the Amex Stadium last weekend.

Amad is to be key in Manchester United vs Liverpool clash

Amad has been awarded the Manchester United Player of the Month award for August due to his impressive start to the season.

The Ivorian winger has shown his potential to be a regular starter under Ten Hag this campaign and has been a lively presence in attack in the opening weeks.

The 22-year-old scored his first goal of the season last time out and will be looking to continue his form heading into the derby against Arne Slot’s Liverpool side.

With Mason Mount sidelined due to his latest hamstring issue Joshua Zirkzee is expected to come into the starting XI.

Zirkzee’s playing style and ability to link up play in attack can be a huge benefit for the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad.

Amad has shown in pre-season and the opening fixtures of the season that he can play quick exchanges with teammates as he tries to make swift runs behind the defence.

If Zirkzee and Amad can build a quick on-field connection it could be the start of a pattern of play in attack that the Dutch coach has sought after.
