“I am very happy to play with him” – Kylian Mbappe in awe of his Real Madrid teammate
Kylian Mbappe has been in excellent form, scoring for the second game in a row for Real Madrid, this time sealing the 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad with a well-taken penalty.
The French star is growing in confidence with every match and is keen on developing a strong partnership with Brazilian teammate Vinicius Jr., believing their connection can greatly benefit the team.
Reflecting on the match, Mbappe acknowledged the challenge they faced against a tough opponent, saying,
“We knew before the game that it was going to be difficult and in the end, we won,” Mbappe said on Real Madrid TV (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“We suffered a bit playing against a great team but we go home with what we want, which is a victory. We have to continue like this because we have to win many games to get where we want to be,” he added.
Life at Real Madrid and way ahead
Mbappe also touched on how he is getting more comfortable with each game.
“I feel better with each game, I understand what the team, the manager and my teammates need.
“I feel better and I’m sure that on Tuesday I’ll be better at winning at the start of the Champions League,” he added, indicating that he’s looking forward to their upcoming European fixture.
Looking ahead to the Champions League match against Stuttgart, Mbappe emphasised the importance of starting the tournament well, especially with the new format. He has long dreamt of playing and winning this competition, especially at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu.
“It’s a very important competition, as I said on the first day I came to Real Madrid to experience these kinds of nights.
“I’m very focused on winning and getting off to a good start in a new competition like the Champions League, which has changed. We have to get off to a good start,” he noted.
Partnership with Vinicius
In discussing his partnership with Vinicius, Mbappe highlighted how the two are working to build a better understanding on the pitch. He noted that it doesn’t matter who takes the penalties as long as they result in goals.
“The truth is that we try to find each other in the game and in training to create this connection because we know that we can help the team.
“Vinicius is a great player and I am very happy to play with him at Real Madrid. The important thing about the penalties is that all four were goals. Who takes them is not important, what is important is that they are goals,” said Mbappe.
Mbappe’s commitment to improving his performance and fostering teamwork shows his ambition to help Real Madrid achieve great things this season, both in La Liga and the Champions League.
