Last week, Alvaro Morata make a drastic decision on his Atletico Madrid future. He was very close to leaving in favour of a move to Al-Qadsiah, but after being convinced by his family and Diego Simeone, he publicly committed to staying at the Civitas Metropolitano. However, it could all be for nothing.

Despite Morata’s declarations, AC Milan have been working on convincing him to join them later this summer. The Rossoneri need a new striker following the departure of Olivier Giroud, and their desired option in the La Roja captain, who is gearing up to face France in Tuesday’s Euro 2024 semi-final.

Milan director Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been working on turning Morata’s head, and according to Calciomercato reporter Daniele Longo, it appears to be having the desired effect. Morata has been offered a four-year deal, which he is tempted to accept.

Once Morata agrees personal terms with Milan, it’s expected that they would trigger his €15m release clause. This would only happen once Euro 2024 is over, as Morata is focused on guiding Spain to their fourth European Championship title. As things stand, Atletico Madrid could lose their second striker of the summer, following Memphis Depay’s contract termination in June.
