Alumni: Former QMJHL Star Signs PTO With Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have signed left winger Mike Hoffman to a professional try-out.

Hoffman, 33, is coming off of a 23-point (10+13) season with the San Jose Sharks last season.

Hoffman brings 745 games of NHL experience across five teams thus far, in the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.

He also brings championship pedigree, having won a QMJHL championship with the Drummondville Voltigeurs in 2009.

A former 36-goal scorer, the Oilers hope his offense can re-surge as the team incurred a few losses after their big Stanley Cup Finals run last year.

Before Hoffman got his start in the NHL, Hoffman played in three seasons in the QMJHL, scoring 227 points (122+105) across 180 games between the Gatineau Olympiques, Drummondville Voltigeurs and the Saint John Sea Dogs.
