Alexis Lafrenière Reportedly ‘Prominent In The Discussion’ Regarding J.T. Miller Trade

Talks were reportedly progressing between the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks regarding a trade for J.T. Miller, but which other players are being involved in these discussions?

According to Larry Brooks of The New York Post, Alexis Lafrenière has been a player discussed between the two teams.

“Mika Zibanejad will not be part of the bounty going to Vancouver in a potential deal for Miller…It is believed that Alexis Lafrenière’s name has been prominent in the discussion,” Brooks wrote.

Zibanejad has a no-move clause and is likely not a player the Canucks would covet as much compared to Lafrenière due to his age.

This report does not necessarily mean the Rangers are willing to trade Lafrenière though.

In fact, USA Today’s Vince Z. Mercogliano wrote that the possibility of trading Lafrenière would be a bridge too far as even the thought seems to be extreme.

The trade that was close to being completed is now off according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and it’s unclear if Lafrenière was included in that potential deal.
