Who is Alberto Costa and how Juventus could line up with new signing
Multiple reports in Italy claim Juventus have secured a deal to sign Alberto Costa from Vitoria Guimaraes: here’s how the Bianconeri could line up with their new acquisition.
Juventus are ready to welcome Portuguese defender Alberto Costa in a deal worth €13m.
The 21-year-old is a product of FC Tirsense and Vitoria Guimaraes Academy, which he joined in 2013.
Who is Alberto Costa and how Juventus could line up with new signing
Costa is a natural right-back, which means he’ll fight for Nicolò Savona for a starting spot in defence. Juventus, in fact, are expected to terminate Danilo’s contract in the coming days after the Brazilian was frozen out of the team at the end of 2024.
Andrea Cambiaso will move on the opposite flank, with Costa starting as a right-back. The Italy international has been struggling with playing time recently. Thiago Motta revealed on Saturday that the ex-Genoa defender has been training and playing under pain-killers injections.
A right-footed defender, Costa is quite strong physically, being 1,86m tall.
He has provided three assists and scored one goal in 21 appearances across all competitions.
The new Juventus signing recently crossed paths with an Italian club, meeting Fiorentina in the Conference League at the end of December.
Costa has made two appearances with Portugal’s U20 squad, with whom he debuted in March 2023.
