The powers that be at La Liga outfit Deportivo Alavés have opened talks with their AC Milan counterparts, over a summer signing.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing El Correo, who point towards Luka Romero as the player in question.

Versatile youngster Romero, for his part, spent this past season plying his trade in Spain’s top-flight, with Almería.

Any chance of an extended stay at Power Horse Stadium was ultimately brought to an end upon Almería being relegated back to the 2nd tier, but Romero, evidently, did enough to convince another of La Liga’s clubs of his quality.

As per MD, Alavés have kicked into gear negotiations over a deal of their own for the 19-year-old.

The move would be expected to come in the form of a one-year loan, featuring an option to buy next summer for a fee in the region of €7 million.

With Romero, who can operate in a number of positions between midfield and attack, having not yet worked his way into the first-team plans of parent club Milan, Alavés are understood to be increasingly confident of reaching an agreement for the Argentine.

It is in turn concluded that:

‘Alavés could close the surprise signing in the next few days.’
