Barcelona continue to ramp up their effort to complete exits this summer to help with the registration of new signing Dani Olmo. With a game on their horizon tomorrow, fans will be hoping to see the 26-year-old Spaniard’s debut.

Olmo was our marquee signing of the summer but the club is struggling to register him. He has already missed two La Liga games this season and despite Barcelona winning both games so far, there is an asterisk to it due to the off-field uncertainty.

One player that Barcelona were linked with this summer is Joao Cancelo, who spent last season on loan at the club. As per reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al-Hilal have now reached an agreement with Manchester City for around €25m for the 30-year-old.

The Saudi club has offered the player a package of €15m net salary per season as they look to convince Cancelo to join them this summer. The player is out of Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester and is bound to leave this summer.

We covered a story a day ago revealing that Al-Hilal were now confident of wrapping up a deal for the Barcelona target. The Catalan club is obviously not in a position to try and sign the 30-year-old at the moment.

Missing out on Cancelo is unlikely to affect Barcelona. Even if the club is able to sign the 30-year-old this summer, it would not be wise to spend money on the Portuguese international at a time when we are financially challenged.

The only circumstance under which Barcelona should even consider a transfer for the Man City full-back is if he is available on another loan deal. However, that is unlikely to happen this summer when the English club has an offer from the Saudi club.

At this stage, it looks like Barcelona are going to miss out on Joao Cancelo but this could be a blessing in disguise. The next few days would reveal the 30-year-old’s future and let’s see how it goes.
