Akim Aliu calls Bill Peters' apology 'insincere and concerning'

It took quite some time, but Bill Peters finally released something that somewhat resembled an apology for the racial tirade he allegedly directed toward former NHLer Akim Aliu.

Aliu, who this week detailed multiple n-word filled rants directed at him from Peters when both were with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, took to Twitter once again, this time lamenting Peters’ feeble attempt, which didn’t mention Aliu by name or acknowledge the specific derogatory words Aliu claims — corroborated by former teammates — he said.

After calling Peters’ apology — which was clearly drafted by a lawyer and intended only to cover himself legally — misleading, insincere and concerning, Aliu noted that he is meeting with the NHL to “discuss the situation.”

Peters is currently away from the team as the Flames and the NHL conduct an investigation.
