Ajax fans follow club en masse in penultimate Europa League round
Ajax are expected to take more than 2,000 fans to Latvia in January as the Amsterdam club face FK RFS Riga in the final away league phase game of the UEFA Europa League.
As per Voetbal Primeur and Ajax Fancare on X, Francesco Farioli’s side are reportedly going to be backed by 2,268 ticket holders. With temperatures believed to plummet way below freezing, the Dutch fans have been warned about the cold weather.

Just like many places on the continent, January and February are the coldest months in Latvia. Several weeks every year may be very cold, going under -20 at night and even on some days.
That said, a consolation for Ajax fans may arrive with parallels to Chelsea in the Conference League. The Blues’ clash against Astana in Kazakhstan last week, saw temperatures in Almaty believed to be -15 Celsius at full-time.

After six rounds, Ajax are in a good position in the Europa League. With ten points, they occupy 11th place in the rankings. Ajax still have to play against RFS before welcoming Galatasaray to the Johan Cruyff Arena.
A reminder – the first eight teams qualify directly for the knockout phase in this competition, while numbers nine to 24 play an intermediate playoff round. RFS have not yet won in the Europa League and have so far collected two points. The Latvians are in 34th place.
