Paul Pogba’s (31) future remains up in the air. The Frenchman saw his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months upon an appeal to CAS. It means that the Frenchman can retain to training in January and then return to playing in March 2025.

Whilst his return is nearing, the club that he will be representing remains a mystery. He saw his contract with Juventus terminated by mutual consent last month, with both parties recognising the need for a fresh start. Pogba is reportedly keen to stay in one of Europe’s top five divisions.

Speaking to L’Équipe, he said that he would be open to a move to Ligue 1, with former teammate Patrice Evra lobbying for Pogba to join Olympique de Marseille. Adrien Rabiot, a teammate of Pogba’s both at international level and formerly at club level with Juventus, joined OM on a free transfer back in September.

He has now “invited” Pogba to join Les Phocéens. “I would like to play with Paul. We didn’t get the chance to play too much together because he had quite a few small injuries. I was very disappointed,” said Rabiot in the mixed zone, following Sunday’s 2-0 win over AS Saint-Étienne.

He added, “We’re inviting him to come and play for OM […] if he wants to come, it would be a pleasure.” Whether Pogba accepts that invitation, and whether OM’s directors make a formal approach for the France international, is a much bigger and more important question.
